Seven rooms, one conversation.

Here is what we usually help with in each room, plus one thing worth knowing before you ask. Anything the house needs that is not listed, ask anyway.

Kitchen

Cookware, baking sheets, knives, food storage containers, small appliances and tableware for everyday use.

Before you ask. Start with what you cook most. A good pot and a sheet pan cover more than a drawer of gadgets.

Plates, bowls, glasses, flatware, table linens and serving pieces; chairs and benches where they fit your table.

Before you ask. Count how many people sit at your table most nights, not on holidays. Plan for that number plus two.

Rugs, lamps, throws, cushions, shelving and wall decor.

Before you ask. Measure the room and the walls before you pick a rug or a shelf. Note where the outlets are.

Mats, hooks, benches, shoe racks, umbrella stands and baskets for keys and mail.

Before you ask. The entry gets the most wear. Pick surfaces that handle wet shoes and bags.

Sheets, duvets, pillows, curtains, lamps and small storage.

Before you ask. Know your bed size before anything else; sheet and duvet sizes are not interchangeable.

Towels, bath mats, shower curtains, hampers, organizers and small shelves.

Before you ask. Check the shower rod and the wall type before you buy hooks or racks.

Hampers, drying racks, baskets, shelves and cleaning supplies storage.

Before you ask. Measure the space between washer, dryer and wall; many racks and shelves are narrower or wider than they look.
